Bardiya National Park

Bardiya National Park is the largest national park in the lowland Terai region covering 968 sq.km and situated in the south western Nepal near to Karnali River valley. originally the area was established and protected as Royal Hunting Reserve in 1967, later on it was gazetted as Royal Karnali Wildlife Reserve and finally declared as Royal Bardiya National Park on 1988.
The Bardiya National Park is reputed for its abundant biodiversity and varied vegetation. The park is covered with dense forest, Riverine forest, and Grassland; provides excellent habitat for endangered animals like Rhinoceros, wild Elephant, Bengal Tiger, Swamp deer, Black Buck, Gharial Crocodile and Dolphins. More than 200 species of birds, Snakes and many other mammals also make their habitat.
The National Park provides a wonderful wilderness experience. Unique flora-fauna, landscape, vegetations and indigenous culture of Buffer Zone communities are great attraction for the visitors. A trip to the park would be more excellent with the combination with a trek to Dolpo or Rara lake region or a short Rafting trip down to Karnali River.
