Gokyo Chola Pass Trek

Gokyo chola pass trek is one of the most admired treks of Everest region and it is a combination of Everest base camp trek and Gokyo trek, connecting by the high chola pass at the elevation of 5420m. It is quite less known than the main Everest trail; a trek on this trail provides stunning views of many Himalayan giant zeniths. Gokyo (4750m) is the small remote valley deep into the Himalayas, with the series of picturesque high altitude blue lakes beneath the vast glacier plateau and in the lap of Gokyo ri in the Everest region. The major attraction of this trek are the finest and most popular panoramic  view points of Everest region like Kalapatthar, Chukung, Tyangboche, Gokyo ri ,Chola pass into one single trekking package unlike other package.

Gokyo Chola Pass Trek offers  extraordinary diversity of vegetation, glorious landscapes of mountains and high hills, range of rare wildlife, prosperous Sherpa cultures and villages, view of several eight thousand meters peak accompanied by other seven and six thousand meters peaks of colossal Himalayan range. We travel along richly forested areas, streams, waterfalls, yak pastures, high valleys, glaciers and High Mountain passes in the land of Sherpa.

Gokyo Chola Pass Trek is suitable for moderately fit people with moderate level of difficulties and can be done any time in year except on winter and monsoon when the heavy snow makes the pass almost unattainable to cross.

Everest Region Trek

Itinerary:

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu, upon arrival at airport you would be received by our representative and then transfer to hotel in Private or tourist vehicle.

Day 02: Whole day sightseeing tour around Kathmandu Valley with English/other language speaking guides, to places like Pashupatinath Temple, Boudha stupa, Kathmandu durbar square with museum visit, Swayambhu temple(monkey temple).

Day 03: 40 minutes morning flight to Lukla airport. After breakfast in Lukla (2840m), we will start our trek towards Phakding (2610m) which will take about 4 hours through Forests of Rhododendrons, oak, fir and bamboo with the handy view of Nupla(5885m), in the opposite side on the descending trail until Thado khola then steep climb up to Phakding. Day 04: Trek to Namche bazaar situated at 3440 meters above sea level, is the main commercial town of whole Khumbu region. The duration of this trek is 4 - 5 hours. After first hour of hiking to cross the Dhud Koshi River, you can see Mt. Thamserku (6608m), you cross streams and rivers on steel suspension bridge on several places. The trail mostly ascends passing bengar, chumao and monjo entering Sagarmatha National Park.

Day 05: Acclimatization day in Namche bazaar. Morning visit to Syangboche for view of Everest, Ama dabalm, Lhotse and many other mountains, Syangboche have small airstrip and luxurious Evrest view Hotel. One can experience culture and traditions of Sherpa's in Namche bazaar which is the old trade junction of this regoin.

Day 06: Trek starts from Namche towards Tengboche at the altitude of 3860m. This trek consumes 5 - 6 hours. It includes gentle ridge walking off the town and descent to the Dhudh Koshi River at Phunkithanka, after crossing the bridge here the trail steeply ascends up to the Tengboche. Tengbohe have largest Monastery of Khumbu region.

Day 07: Trek to Dingboche (4410m) which takes around 5 - 6 hours. Descending from the Tengboche Monastery the trail follows through the Rhododendron forest with sloppy steps to Deboche. Further ahead crossing Imja Khola Bridge and trail goes gradual climb up to next Sherpa village Pangboche at 3930m. This village has Oldest Monastery of the Khumbu region. Lunch at Somare and you will be at Dingboche Village before dark for the overnight camp.

Day 08: Acclimatization day around Dingboche, morning hike to Chukung valley and excursion to Chukung-ri(5445m) for outstanding View of massif Makalu, Everest and their surrounding landscapes. After lunch in Chukung back to Dingboche for overnight stay. It takes around 7 hours round trip.

Day 09: Trek to lobuche(4930m) which takes 4 hours while walking in normal pace. The trail is mild uphill to Pheriche village. This section of trek offers the panoramic views of the Mt.Tawache, Ama Dablam, Pokalde (5741m), Kongma-tse (5820m) and the great wall of Nuptse will make you refreshed. We stat our trek from huge barrier of mountains, it ascends until you reach Dugla pass. And the trail drops to moraine of Khumbu glacier and continue towards Lobuche

Day 10: After having breakfast in Lobuche, we will recommence our trek towards Gorakshep(5160m) which takes 2 - 3 hours. After having lunch in Gorakhshep, we will hike to Everest base camp (5340m) that takes 3 hours for round trip and back to Gorakshep for night stay. You get oppurtunity to see the spectacular Khumbu icefall, Khumbu glacier and blue ice of Everest.

Day 11: Early morning 3 hours hike to Kalapatthar (5545m) for dazzling view of sunrise over the Mighty Himalayas including legendary Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama dabalam, Makalu and many more. Back to Gorakshep and after having breakfast trek to Dzongla(4830m) which takes about 4 - 5 hours.

Day 12: Trek to Thangnak(4661m), traversing through Chola pass(5350m) which takes about 6 - 7 hours. The trail is steep ascent until reaching Chola pass with colorful prayers flags and almost vertical downhill until we follow the path alongside the stream through the yak pastures and rocky grass lands.

Day 13: Trek from Thangnak(4661m) to Gokyo(4725m) it takes about 3 - 4 hours. We start trek leaving Thangnak ascending up to glacier and walk along it for few moments and then cross the glacier. During trek we see high altitude cultures and glorious landscapes of the Himalayas.

Day 14: Early morning excursion to Gokyo ri(5334m), after reaching the summit of Gokyo ri following 1 and half hour hike one can witness the sunrise view over the high mountains turning them dramatically golden red. The view of most of the Himalayas of eastern Nepal and Tibet can be seen like Everest(8848m),Lhotse(8501),Cho-oyu(8153m),Makalu(8461m),Nuptse(7879m),Lobuche peak(6143m), Kangchung(6103m). Back to Gokyo, after having breakfast explore around fifth (gokyo) lake and Cho-oyu base camp then back to gokyo for overnight stay.

Day 15: Trek to Dole (4040m) which takes about 5 - 6 hours to accomplish and overnight stay at Dole. We ascend from Gokyo Lake passing the small settlements of lonponga, pangka, machermo and finally Dole at late afternoon. The trail passes through the deserted rocky landscapes along the glacier, yak grazing pastures of high valleys with small picturesque Sherpa villages revealing their cultures. Day 16: Trek to Namche bazaar (3440m), it takes 5 - 6 hours. We ascend from Dole via syangboche towards Sherpa town of Namche. During the trek we get to see mountains, streams, grasslands, birds, and if luck rare animals like musk deer, snow leopard etc.

Day 17: Trek down to Lukla(2840m) via phakding which takes about 6 - 7 hours, normally most of the trekkers stay for night around Phakding but it is possible and not that difficult to ascend direct to Lukla. We mostly walk beneath the high cliffs over the Forests of Rhododendron, firs, bamboo etc passing through several streams, suspension bridge, waterfalls, and settlements of Sherpa's.

Day 18: Fly back to Kathmandu, pick up from domestic airport and transfer to Hotel of your choice. Afternoon free for rest, shopping, exploring or any personal activities.

Day 19: Reserve day (Incase flight cancelled due to Bad weather) if so sightseeing around KTM.

Day 20: Transfer to airport, departure to your country / destination or go for other programs in Nepal.
