Arun River Rafting
Rafting on Arun is undoubtedly the most exciting white water river rafting in Nepal. The river takes shape from the melting snow of Mt. Makalu (8463m), the world’s fifth highest peak, and flows amid the thick woods of the famous Arun valley before winding its way down through the hinterlands of eastern Nepal.
The rafting starts at Kartike Ghat, where you can reach by a five-day trek after a short drive. The trekking route follows a 3000-meter high ridge through beautiful woods and meadows with magnificent views of Kanchenjunga, Makalu and the Everest mastiff along the way. Alternatively, you can fly to Tumlingtar and trek to Kartike Ghat, which will reduce your trekking days considerably.
From Kartike Ghat, the 76 km stretch of the river is really breathtaking where you will raft on the gushing waters of Arun amid lush green forests, remote settlements, rocky mountains of eastern Nepal.
