Shivapuri  Trek

Shivapuri  trek is popular place located very close to Kathmandu valley, northern part of Kathmandu. It is situated merely 12 km away north of Kathmandu, raised to the sprawling forests of Shivapuri National park is popular spot for having short trek from kathmandu, hiking, tour or bird watching trip. Shivapuri is the source of drinking water for the Kathmandu settlers and therefore in order to protect the water source and its endangered flora and fauna, the government had declared Shivapuri Jungle as Shivapuri National park in 2002.  
Shivapuri  Nagerkot  trek is the home to over 180 species of birds including stork, egret, wood pecker, and Black headed shrike, pheasant, cuckoo, crows to name a few and numerous of rare orchids, pine, oak, rhododendron and others plants. Shivapuri is the last areas of woodland left in the valley which houses a number of rhesus monkeys, even leopards, black bears, tigers, jungle cats, and other wildlife.  Similarly, it is the home to over 100 species of butterflies many of them are in the verge of extinction in the world. 
Shivapuri National park covers nearly about 144 sq km, is the major watershed supplying drinking water to the Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal. The park is the main trekking route to Nagarkot, Gosainkunda, Helambu, and Langtang. From Shivapuri you will not only enjoy the amazing views of the mountains but also explore the endangered birds and animals and many more. As it is situated close to Kathmandu valley and is an amazing place to explore many things, Shivapuri lately has been popular spot for having trekking among many travelers coming to Nepal.
