Accommodations around Everest Base Camp Trek 

Accommodations are in comfortable lodges, which are known as tea houses mostly run by the Sherpa ethnic group, or can settle in tents as well. Normally, all tea houses have a central gathering area placed by a large fire oven and yak dong would be used for the heating the provide heat and a cozy atmosphere. The bedrooms are small and generally occupy two beds including mattresses, pillows, and blankets for each bed. It is better to bring your own sleeping bags for enough heating your body. Similarly, the lodges have gas showers which are powered by gas and most of the guest houses have western types of flushing toilets. 

Likewise, there are varieties options for food items of good quality, a mixture of Nepali foods items, Sherpa local foods, burgers, bread, and western cuisines, but for your enough appetite choose Dalbhat, you can add more and more until you are not appetite but other foods items only for one time, so, all types of foods and drinks available in the trek as you can choose by yourself and enjoy the cuisine. However, you need to be aware of eating because you are in a higher place, so if you eat unhealthy foods and alcoholic drinks ascending there might be problems, so, sometime it will be confused about what to do or what not to do. This would be the biggest challenge in the mountains, so, you can consult with your guide and avoid unhealthy foods like meats which are taken for long days and may rot. 

Packing Lists for Everest Base Camp Trek 

The basic clothing items that you need to keep for Everest Base Camp are warm, dry, and sun-protected as well as comfortable to move which should be more comfortable in the evening and at night. The followings are some mandatory gear lists for EBC Trek:- 

  • Backpack – Duffle bag or rucksack which is easy to carry for a porter and the small bag that is needed for your trail walking to keep water or sun cream. 
  • Rain protection – waterproof wind cheater, raincoat, or umbrella 
  • Layers – T-shirts, trousers, shorts, jumpers, warm down jackets, hat and gloves 
  • Night sleeping – There will be the availability of mattresses, pillows, and blankets but for better preparations, you can take your own sleeping bag. 
  • Hiking – trekking shoes, hiking poles, lighter shoes for the evening, comfortable clothes, etc. 
  • Water – You can take your water bottle and put safe drinking water or use a water purification tablet or purification leaser, be wise and consider about environment avoiding by plastic bottles. 
  • Personnel hygiene – use clean towels, clean kits, and your stuff
  • Sun protection – Sun hat, sunglasses, and sun protection lotions 
  • Miscellaneous – headlight, books, camera, music player, power backup, leads, and poker

Detail Itinerary

  • Day 01 :Arrival at Tribhuwan International airport, Kathmandu, Pick up from the airport in a private car or tourist coach and transfer to Hotel, after some hours of rest and official formalities you have some time to visit the local market and streets of Thamel(Popular Tourist hub of Kathmandu) three-star level accommodation with B/B plan.
  • Day 02 :Kathmandu to Phakding About 45 min Kathmandu Lukla flight, we land on Lukla airport which is situated at altitude of 2840m. Breakfast in Lukla and 4hrs trek to Phakding at 2610m. The trail is gentle and descends first up to Thado Koshi then gradually climb up to the first campsite via Dudh Koshi river bank.
  • Day 03 :Phakding to Namche bazaar commercial town of Khumbu region inherited by Sherpa (Himalayan People), Namche Bazaar (3430m) is referred to as Gateway to Mt. Everest. The day includes 4-5 hours of walking. After the first hour of hiking to cross the Dhud Koshi River, you can see Mt. Thamserku (6608m). Along this trail are rhododendron forests, magnolias, and giant firs. Sagarmatha National Park begins from Monjo village situated at 2840m. This is a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1979.
  • Day 04 :Acclimatization day in Namche bazaar before proceeding further. Acclimatization is important at high altitudes. Morning hike to Everest view point about two and a half hours from there you will have the first glimpse of Mt. Everest and stunning views of other mountains Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Khantenga, Thamserku, and many other snow-capped peaks. In Namche, you will get a chance to experience Sherpa´s cultures and traditions overnight at Namche.
  • Day 05 :Namche to Tengboche After having breakfast at Namche Bazar 4 5 hours trek starts via a gentle ridge walk of the town and descent to the Dudh Koshi River at Phunkithanka, after crossing the bridge from there the trail assents up to the Tengboche(3867m). Tengboche is the largest and most famous monastery in the Everest region. Great views of Everest(8848m), Ama Dablam(6865m), Khantega(6187m), Lhotse(8501m), and many other peaks.
  • Day 06 :Tengboche to Dingboche Trek to Dingboche at 4410m which will take 5 hours. Descending from the Tengboche Monastery the trail follows through the Rhododendron forest with sloppy steps to Deboche. Further ahead crossing Imja Khola Bridge and trail goes gradual climb up to next Sherpa village Pangboche at 3930m. This village has the Oldest Monastery in the Khumbu region, you may get some time to explore this monastery after lunch at Somare and you will be at Dingboche Village before dark for the overnight at Dingboche.
  • Day 07 :Dingbochhe to Lobuje After taking breakfast trek to Lobuje situated at an altitude of 4910m through a huge barrier accompanied by the magnificent view of the great Himalayas. After that trail ascends until you reach Thugla pass. And the trail drops to the moraine of Khumbu glacier and continues towards Lobuje. The day journey ends after 5 hours of trekking.
  • Day 08 :Lobuje to t Gorakhshep Trek towards Gorakhshep (5160m) which takes 3 to 4 hours, after having lunch you can hike to EBC, about 3 hours of gentle walking through Khumbu glacier valley, and back to Gorakshep.
  • Day 09 :Gorakhshep to Pheruche Morning hike to Kalapatthar 5545m sees the sunrise view over high mountains Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu, Ama Dablam, Pumori, and many other snow-capped peaks. Back to Gorashshep after Breakfast trek back same route to till Thugla trek down valley to Pheriche (4310m) Overnight at Pheriche.
  • Day 10 :Pheruche to Tengboche Trek back to Tengboche (3867m) via Pangboche Village takes 4 hours. You will enjoy every moment of the trip especially while returning the trip is less stressful and you get time to feel the landscapes.
  • Day 11 :Ascend from Tengboche to Namche bazaar (3430m) which takes 4 hours of walking. For other information see itinerary Day 06. You will get time to rest, buy souvenirs, and explore the town of Namche Bazaar.
  • Day 12 :Namche to Phakding Trek back to Phakding is an easy, downhill trail that crosses the Dudh Koshi River many times. Forests of Rhododendron, firs, pines, etc are along the trails. The trail is easy and interesting because of the streams, forests, and high suspension bridges. It takes 5 hours.
  • Day 13 :Phakding to Lukla After having breakfast trek back to the last point of this trek, Lukla from where this trek started by walking for 3 4 hours. Have lunch and rest at tea house lodge or free personal time. You can also explore Lukla and see the cultural traditions of Sherpa for the last time.
  • Day 14 :Lukla to Kathmandu Morning flight to Kathmandu. Pick up from Domestic airport by private or tourist vehicle and transfer to Hotel. The day is free for your personal activities or exploring around Thamel.
  • Day 15 :Guided tour around Kathmandu Valley including places listed on world heritage site. Places include Pashupatinath Temple, Kathmandu durbar square, Swayambhu, Boudha stupa, etc. This day's sightseeing tour will take you to visit all the major historical and cultural monuments and sites of Kathmandu valley. After finishing sightseeing back to Hotel with B/B Plan.
  • Day 16 :Trip ends transfer to international airport or you are free for your other programs
