Mountaineering in Nepal

Nepal has been an ultimate destination for mountaineering for thousands of travelers from across the world, as there are a number of highest peaks offering the opportunities for mountaineering trip. Out of 14, Nepal is the home to 8, world's highest mountains above 8,000 m in the world namely-- Mt. Everest (8,848 m), Kanchanjunga (8,586 m), Lhotse (8,516 m), Makalu (8,463 m) Cho Oyu (8,201 m), Dhaulagiri (8,167 m), Manaslu (8,163 m), Annapurna (8,091 m). Besides these, there are a number of other peaks approximately over 1,300 mountains above 6,000 m. Nearly about 400 of them are open for organizing mountaineering trip including the world's highest peak, the Mt. Everest. This is the reason why the mountaineering here in Nepal is one of the adventurous trip. 

While having the mountaineering trip, you not merely enjoy with the scenic views of the mountains and have adventure of having summit over the highest peaks but also be able to explore the incredible landscape, the lush forest full of endangered birds and animals, rushing rivers, the diverse culture, ancient arts and architecture. These features are explicit enough why Nepal has been an ultimate destination for spending holidays and for having expedition. The elevation of Nepal ranges from 60 meters above sea level to the highest point of the earth--Mt. Everest at 8,848 meters, all within a distance of 150 kilometers. 

For having mountaineering trip in Nepal, the permission from the authorities must be sought. If you are wishing to have mountaineering trip, you do not need to bother on these formalities. We, The Thin Air Adventure Team does make all kinds of arrangements including of seeking of permission for having mountaineering trip in Nepal. Primarily the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA), Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation jointly and independently grant the permission to have expedition. Please, let us know prior to you trip so that we can make all sorts of proceedings and necessary arrangements for having mountaineering trips here in Nepal.
 
Preparation for Expedition

In Nepal, the peak climbing trips are usually organized above 7,000 meter peaks. If you have not yet climbed high peaks as such, you may be intrigued by the challenges. Therefore, we Thin Air Adventure Team here would like to recommend you to make appropriate preparation in order your dream of having summit to the high mountains a success. 

From our long years experience in organizing expedition trip, what we can say is that expedition the highest peaks in the world is not a joke. It is not a one man work either. It is a team work and involves a lot of preparation before hand. Although you are fully assisted by the well-trained and long years experienced expedition guide during the expedition trip, there are many things to be considered which are listed in the following as the preparation for peak climbing: 

Fitness

The fitter you are, the greater the chance of your success to summit the highest peaks. Therefore, we suggest you to pay attention of your fitness. Go for aerobic or any other ways to gain muscle or lose or gain weight but maintain your fitness, because, fitness is one of the first step for preparing oneself for tackling of any kinds of challenges while climbing the snow capped-peaks. Rests are the techniques which will be briefed during the trip. 

Health

Health is wealth, the most popular cliché, also best suits in the peak climbing, because, the healthier you are, the easier it will be, while climbing the peak. The higher you go up there is chances of being suffered from the high altitude sickness but, if you are healthy enough and have confident in yourself getting to the high altitude, there is high chances of getting success of climbing high peaks in Nepal. Therefore, make appropriate measures for being fit, fine, and healthy. 

Acclimatization

You better be aware about the the high altitude sickness beforehand. If you have high hills, you better visit them and acclimatize yourself. Normally, it takes several days for you to feel okay before you reach to the high altitude peaks. You will be acclimatized in in different altitudes, however if you have knowledge about high altitude, sickness and preventive measures and you prepare yourself, you can  easily cope up with any kinds of hurdles that come during your trip.
