Langtang Gosainkunda Trek is one another most demanded and frequently organized trekking package in the Langtang region. Langtang valley is nestled between Langtang Lirung (7,246 m) and Dorje Lakpa (6,966 m) peak and offers you amazing views of mountains primarily of Langtang Lirung (7,245 m) the highest peaks in the area and a number of small peaks to the south Chimse Danda (ridge), Ganjala Pass (5,122 m), Jugal Himal and Dorje Lakpa (6989 m). It is one of the shortest and best trekking packages because you will not only be amazed at fascinating views of mountains but also will explore the holy lake namely the Gosaignkunda located at 4,380 m height, and the lifestyle, rituals, and culture of Tamang and Sherpa indigenous community residing alongside the trail, the Buddhist Gompa (monasteries), Chorten, terraced farm field, the steamy forest full of flora and fauna of Langtang National Park which is home of numerous of migratory birds, deer, monkeys Tahr and Pika. 

During the trek, you will be amazed by splendid waterfalls, gigantic boulders, the unique culture, and lifestyles of Sherpa and Tamang ethnic groups, amazing views of the mountains, incredible landscapes, flora, and fauna, and many more. You will reach up to the Nepal-Tibet (China) border. Langtang Gosainkund trek begins with one day drive from Kathmandu to Syabru Bensi or Dhunchhe. After you get to Syabrubensi, your trail continues through larch and rhododendron forests which are rich in wildflowers and birds, and finally reaches the holy lake area called Gosaikunda and the trekking continues to Helambu valley via Laurebina pass (4,610 m) and then you retrace back to Syabru village then continues crossing Gosainkund pass (4610 m). Similarly, your trail continues Tharapati, Tarkeghyang, Sermathang, and finally get back to Melamchi pul bazaar, subsequently get back to Kathmandu by private vehicle or by public bus.

Outline Itinerary:

  • Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu airport, Transfer to Hotel of your choice, couple of hours of rest and explore around local Market Thamel.
  • Day 02: whole day guided tour around historical, cultural and traditional major sites of Kathmandu Valley incuding pashupatinath temple, Boudha stupa. Swoyambhu temple, Kathmandu durbar square, Patan durbar square etc. and Preparation for trekking.
  • Day 03: Approx 132 km drive from Kathmandu to syafrubesi on Private jeep, Vehicles on twisting and turning mid and high hill roads of Nepal. Drive takes around 6 7 hours to reach Syafrubesi(1435m). Overnight on good hotel of your choice.
  • Day 04: Trekking starts from Syafrubesi(1435m) and ends at Lama Hotel(2470m).
  • Day 05: Six hour trek from Lama hotel(2470m) passing through Riverside lodge, Ghodatabela checkpost, Thangsyap, Chamki, grassland and pastures to langtang Valley(3470m). Where you can meet yak and chauris of Himalayas. Chance to experience culture and traditions
  • Day 06: 3 hours trek to Kyanjin(3784m). Rest in kyanjin gompa or explore Yak cheese factory and local area. You can hike 2 hours to reach kyanjin ri.
  • Day 07: Early breakfast and hike to Tserko ri(4984m).
  • Day 08: Trek back to Lama hotel(2470m) Descending is easy and less time consuming. Lunch around Thangsyap(3140m). It takes 6 7 hours.
  • Day 09: Trekking starts from Lama hotel toward the village thulosyabru. It is a Sherpa and Tamang village rich in culture and traditions. We descend till landslide and 2 hour uphill to the village of thulosyabru.
  • Day 10: Trekking to seng gompa(3584m) passing through forests of mostly pines, Rhododendron and Bamboos. High altitude flowers and vegetation. Area is perfect for vegetation of rare and shy red pandas. It takes 7 8 hours.
  • Day 11: Trek from seng gompa(3584m) to Gosainkundha(4381m). High mountain trail to the beautiful high altitude lake of Gosainkundha. Beautiful view of Langtang and Ganesh himal range is the reward for the day.
  • Day 12: Hike to other high lakes and explore around Gosainkunda, it offers view of lakes and mountains and high mountain wildlife and vegetations. Rest and evening free for personal activities.
  • Day 13: Trek to Ghopte(3440m) via Laurebina pass(4600m) connecting the picturesque sherpa village of Helambu region. The day trail are mostly rocky steep direct ascend and descends. Overnight camp or tea house stay at Ghopte.
  • Day 14: Trek to kutumsang(2000m) walking through dense forest of huge Rhododendron, oak, firs and pine forests and teracced farmed mid lands. People living in this region are mostly Tamang, lama, Chettri, Brahmins, etc.
  • Day 15: Trek to chisopani(2060m). Trek passes through paddy fields, villages forests. The panoramic view of Ganesh himal, jugal himal, Gaurishankhar, Bhairab takura, etc. adds beauty to the mid hill terraced region.
  • Day 16: Trek to Sundarijal(1460m) and 1 hour drive to Kathmandu, Transfer to Hotel rest or explore around markets for shopping etc.
  • Day 17: Final departure from International airport to your destination or commence other program.

  • Day 05 :Six hour trek from Lama hotel(2470m) passing through Riverside lodge, Ghodatabela checkpost, Thangsyap, Chamki, grassland and pastures to langtang Valley(3470m). Where you can meet yak and chauris of Himalayas. Chance to experience culture and traditions
  • Day 06 :3 hours trek to Kyanjin(3784m). Rest in kyanjin gompa or explore Yak cheese factory and local area. You can hike 2 hours to reach kyanjin ri.
  • Day 07 :Early breakfast and hike to Tserko ri(4984m). It is around 7 8 hour round trip, packed lunch on the way and back to Kyanjin for overnight. you reach the top of ri enjoying breathtaking view of great Himalayan landscapes and Mountain peaks. From top view of Yala peak, Langsisa Ri, Langtang kirung are simply amazing.
  • Day 08 :Trek back to Lama hotel(2470m) Descending is easy and less time consuming. Lunch around Thangsyap(3140m). It takes 6 7 hours.
