Sunkoshi River Rafting is one of the longest and most admired rafting tour of Nepal. Sunkoshi in Nepali means ´river of gold´, which originates from the mountainous region of Sindupalchowk and Dolkha districts later combines with the Bhotekoshi flowing from China(Tibet).The Sunkoshi rafting tour traverses 270 kilometers through the sky scraping ´Mahabharat Range´ of central and eastern Nepal. During the beginning of the voyage you can see high mountains, green hills, valleys, high cliffs whereas the final days witnesses the dramatic sudden change of landscapes around the corner from hilly region to the vast plains of terai and northern India. Sunkoshi River Rafting, world´s classic multi day River trip with about 40 rapids ranging from grade 2 5 and can be made any time in year except on mid monsoons.

Outline Itinerary:

  • Day 01: Arrival in kathmandu airport and transfer to Hotel with B/B Plan
  • Day 02: After quick introduction with your crew member and tour leader, we will load our equipments and gears then drive to Dolalghat start point of Sunkoshi river rafting.
  • Day 03: Morning feast will be served, then we will pack our tents and start flowing down the river easily paddling and passing small and medium rapids until Lunch/Rest.
  • Day 04: After having breakfast we will start rolling down the river beneath the Mahabharat range hills.
  • Day 05: The day rafting starts with several class 3 rapids for about hours and quick stop for drinks and use of restroom then we will start preparing for the class 4+ toughest rapids of this River Harkapur 2 and 3.
  • Day 06: We will start rafting after completing private activities and having breakfast.
  • Day 07: After breakfast, some time for exploring and taking photos we will resume rafting around 10 11 am.
  • Day 08: Today is easy compared to other days as we pass through mostly large volume slow flowing water followed by small rapids of grade 1 3, the day is perfect for sightseeing.
  • Day 09: Today is the final day of expedition on this river.
  • Day 10: Drive to Kathmandu airport denature to your home

Detail Itinerary

  • Day 01 :Arrival in kathmandu airport and transfer to Hotel with B/B Plan
  • Day 02 :After quick introduction with your crew member and tour leader, we will load our equipments and gears then drive to Dolalghat start point of Sunkoshi river rafting. It takes about 3 hours. Lunch will be served whilst the crew members pack stuffs and pump the rafts, after that an important briefing about safety and guidelines while rafting and then we will start drifting on the river. Day´s rafting is easy paddling and you will encounter big rapid of class 3+ rapid "Rotten Cave". After couple of hours rafting on Sunkoshi we will choose our campsite where you can spend remaining time by resting or enjoying.
  • Day 03 :Morning feast will be served, then we will pack our tents and start flowing down the river easily paddling and passing small and medium rapids until Lunch/Rest. After having lunch, some moments on small rapids and still water then we will approach class 4+ big rapid named ´Meat Grinder´ from the core of the river evading the concave holes on the left and right. Few minutes below Meat Grinder is the Merging point with Tamakoshi river, our campsite for tonight where the Dinner will be served on open sky. rafting approx. 4 hours.
  • Day 04 :After having breakfast we will start rolling down the river beneath the Mahabharat range hills. Today we will encounter grade 3 rapid while on the Junction of Likhu Khola followed by chain of class 4 rapids, where there is a chance of being capsized. Today we will stop our rafting during mid day after 6 hours and selection of camping spot where we will have our dinner and stay overnight.
  • Day 05 :The day rafting starts with several class 3 rapids for about hours and quick stop for drinks and use of restroom then we will start preparing for the class 4+ toughest rapids of this River Harkapur 2 and 3. After harkapur some moments on easy water enjoying birds and beauty of nature before we reach our campside. While rafting you will always be scouted by our pro Kayakers and the risk of accidents are minimum. Rafting approx. 5 hours to complete.
  • Day 06 :We will start rafting after completing private activities and having breakfast. After few kilometers the Dudh Koshi river flowing from the Everest and its surrounding places joins Sunkoshi from the left side. Below this junction the rivers widens along the array of sand, gravel and stones flowing through wide valleys, green hills and forests offering chance to spot wild animals and different species of wonderful birds. We stay at vast sandy river for overnight. Rafting takes approx 6 hours.
  • Day 07 :After breakfast, some time for exploring and taking photos we will resume rafting around 10 11 am. Today, 6 hours rafting is hard and tiring as we have to pass through frequent rapids mostly of grade 4+ including we known "Rhino Rock" and "Jungle Corridor" mile of incessant White water. While on trip one can see several beautiful waterfalls some time on side, hilly landscapes, birds, picturesque villages etc. Camp on the side of river.
  • Day 08 :Today is easy compared to other days as we pass through mostly large volume slow flowing water followed by small rapids of grade 1 3, the day is perfect for sightseeing. During the 6 hours trip you can see beautiful birds, low hill landscapes, densely forested areas, Ghat (site for burning dead bodies based on Hindu religion). Camp along the beach of Sunkoshi river.
  • Day 09 :Today is the final day of expedition on this river. We start rafting after having breakfast and after some time we approach the last 4+ grade big rapid on high volume water named ´Big Diper´, it is a chain of massive standing waves. Few moments later Arun river and Tamur river respectively joins Sunkoshi and forms saptakoshi(seven big rivers) creating powerful current while flowing. Then the landscapes changes surprisingly along the curvy turn leaving hills behind and the vast terai and Indian plain areas ahead before reaching Chatara where the rafting ends. Lunch will be served and drive back to Kathmandu or Darjeeling/ drive to Biratnagar then around 45 minutes flight to Kathmandu.
  • Day 10 :Drive to Kathmandu airport denature to your home
