Kathmandu valley Rim trek is also known to be round Kathmandu valley trekking. It is one of the superb trekking destinations as it offers you amazing views of mountain vistas ranging from Mt. Everest to Mt. Ganesh Himal  Himalayan range, the incredible landscapes of Kathmandu valley from the top of the hills, explore the flora and fauna, superb sunrise and sunset views and many more. Kathmandu valley Rim trekking trail goes around the valley and its adjoining hills. The valley is surrounded by the amazing green hills, whereby inhabited by different ethnic groups namely Tamang, Newar, Sherpa and others, where you will be amazed with beautiful rhododendron and pine forest, that are home to various endangered birds and animals. This trekking is ideal especially for those who do not have much time to have trekking or expedition for longer days.

Kathmandu valley Rim trek begins with a short tour in the Kathmandu valley, where you will stroll around the UNESCO heritage sites and then trek to Kakani (2,066 m) about 3 hours drive from Kathmandu valley and continue trekking through the Shivapuri forest along the hilltop, from where you will have amazing views of Mt. Annapurna, Mt. Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Langtang Himalayan range, Jugal Himalayan range among others and then continue trekking through steamy jungle to Mulkharka (1,894 m), from where you will enjoy amazing sunrise and sunset views and spectacular view of the Himalayas, explore the endangered birds and spend night in the local homes. Subsequently, you will continue to Chisopani, which is another view pint for sunrise and sunset and to have amazing views of mountains and then finally get back to Nagarkot (2,175 m.), which is really great place for having breathtaking views of the Himalayas and well known place for sunrises and sunset views. 
Likewise, you continue trekking to Dhulikhel (1,440 m.) another popular sunrise and sunset views and amazing views of mountains and valley in the bellow, where you will stroll around the ancient Newari settlements, temples, courtyards and explore the local lifestyles and Newari culture and have amazing views of mountains and then you continue trekking to popular pilgrimage site called Namobuddha situated at the hilltop at 1,982 m height, popular place for having meditation beautiful mountain views. After exploring all around, you will continue to Banthali village, popular for home stay trip. This village also offer you an excellent views of Himalayas, explore the Tamang ethnic groups´ settlement and get back to Lakuri Bhanjyang (2,000 m), it lies at atop of the pristine hills of Pokhari Thumko, it also offers spectacular mountains and shimmering lights for below in the cities of Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur and finally alongside the Lubu village, in Lalitpur get back to Kathmandu making a complete encircle of the valley.

Outline Itinerary:

  • Day 01: Arrival Kathmandu and transfer to Hotel.
  • Day 02: Sight seeing of Kathmandu
  • Day 03: Kathmandu to Sundarijal and trek to Chisopani (2600m).
  • Day 04: Chisopani Trek to Nagarkot (2500m)
  • Day 05: Trek from Nagarkot to Dhulikhel (1800m)
  • Day 06: Dhulikhel – Kathmandu.
  • Day 07: Transfer to the airport.

Detail Itinerary

  • Day 01 :Arrival Kathmandu and transfer to Hotel.
  • Day 02 :Sight seeing of Kathmandu Leave for full day sightseeing in Kathmandu valley includes the Hindu temple complex at Pashupatinath (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) & the biggest Buddhist Stupa at Boudhanath. Also visit Monkey Temple the Swyambhunath (2000 years old temple) and visit Patan city of fine arts back to Hotel.
  • Day 03 :Kathmandu to Sundarijal and trek to Chisopani (2600m). After breakfast, a short drive to Sundarijal. From here the valley rim trek starts, the trail climbs steeply past Tamang villages and on through rhododendron forest to Chisopani. Excellent views over the whole Himalayan range from Manaslu, Ganesh Himal to Everest.Midhill Mountains and valley of Helambu in a clear day!
  • Day 04 :Chisopani Trek to Nagarkot (2500m) To day we hike about 6 7 hours. Walk between the village and forest of Shivapuri, continue our journey to Nagarkot 2775m above the sea level. This spot provides an excellent view of the sunset, sunrise and Mount Everest can be seen on a clear day including other 12 peaks. Overnight at Nagarkot
  • Day 05 :Trek from Nagarkot to Dhulikhel (1800m) We will awake early to watch the spectacular dawn. The first rays of the sun firing the peaks a lightest red slowly lighting up the Himalayas from Everest range in the far East of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri in the West. After breakfast walk down to Dhulikhel for overnight stay.
  • Day 06 :Dhulikhel – Kathmandu. We’ll drive back to Kathmandu Overnight in Kathmandu.
  • Day 07 :Transfer to the airport. Our driver and airport representative will drive you to the airport in time for your flight back home. We ensure that you leave Kathmandu with cherishing memory and an experience of a lifetime.
